Dear all,

Dear all,

in the early hours of Sunday, 23rd February, Mr Pig will have his last oink-oink. Instead, during that day we will have lots of fun.
We are glad to have the chance to introduce you to one of the most authentic Hungarian countryside traditions - the pig slaughter.
It might sound terrifying, it is not though. In the countryside, it is usually a big festival, where family, friends and neighbours come together to ensure fresh meat for the forthcoming months.

Our host will be the Rókusfalvy Winery in Etyek, a one-hour car ride from Budapest. Given that pig slaughters usually start in the early morning, we will meet up at 6.25 at Kelenföld Railway Station where we will take a bus to Etyek. Upon arrival the pig will be killed and we start assisting the various work phases. We are expected to stay there till 3 p.m., and will arrive back to Budapest at around 4 o'clock.

Our hosts set up a remarkable menu for us.
As a welcome we will be warming up with a shot of Rókusfalvy pálinka, in addition to the breakfast (omlette, scone, blood with onion).
During the day we will have the chance to taste various fresh porc products (roast joint, etc.), while as a lunch a typical pig slaughter meal will be offered (which is so authentic, that some dishes we were even unable to translate): házias orjaleves, disznótoros sültes tál, cabbage, dessert. At the end we can also taste fresh-made sausages and "hurka".

In addition to the welcome pálinka, we will have UNLIMITED mulled wine and hot tea during the day.

Thanks to a generous contribution of CEMS Club, participation fee is only 8.000 Ft + transportation costs.
As the number of places is limited to 30, we apply a two-round application process. First, active students of the spring term (incoming as well as home) will have priority. You can book your ticket by transferring the participation fee till Thursday midnight.
From Friday, residual places will be offered to alumni.
(Transportation costs - estimated at around 1.000 Ft will be paid later on.)
